Holiday Ham

Holiday Ham (slow cooker)

I wanted you all the have this recipe before the holidays so that you can free up your oven by cooking this is your crock pot!  This is also my own concoction, so it's extra special :o)

This recipe is so far the best way I found to cook ham and tastes great considering it’s out of a crock pot and so easy!  That right there says a lot because I don’t usually like ham, but I liked this!  Make sure your ham says READY TO COOK and not FULLY COOKED and make sure you buy one that will fit into your crock pot!  I used a 6.5 pound butt portion ham (bone-in) and it miraculously fit perfectly in my 5 quart crock pot.  If your ham is too large, you can slice some off the top and stick it in the side next to the ham.  You can get creative and add other ingredients that suit your fancy (honey, for example)!

It’s so easy, you’d be crazy not to try it!

INGREDIENTS:

1 cured bone -in ham, ready to cook, 4-6 lbs. (the specifics are up to you)
1 can Sprite (7-up, Sierra Mist, etc.)
1 cup brown sugar
1 can pineapple chunks, with juice (or use slices)

PREPARATION:

Spray crock pot with cooking spray. Place ham flat side down into the crock pot. Dump pineapple, can of Sprite and brown sugar over the top. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
(You may baste the ham about halfway through cooking time, do this quickly to prevent a lot of heat from escaping out of the crock pot).
Check for doneness. Ham shouldn’t need to cook more than 8 hours on low because it will dry out.

When I took it out of the crock pot, I kept the juices in a separate bowl that people could spoon over their own meat. You can thicken the juice with cornstarch if it is too runny.

Enjoy!

  1. This sounds delicious Ashley! We always have a ham cut up and use it for sandwiches on Christmas so this would be ideal to free up the oven for the other 9 million appetizers we make lol. Buzzed ya!
